The duplicate hot key dialog is there so a Window-Eyes user cannot assign two hot key actions to the same hot key. There are two exceptions, which are that Window-Eyes allows a Window-Eyes user to use the same hot key combination for two different hot key actions, as long as one of those hot key actions is a browse mode hot key or an office hot key, and the other is one of the remaining five hot key types. In other words, you cannot assign the same hot key for two browse mode hot key actions at the same time, two cursor hot key actions at the same time, two mouse hot key actions at the same time, two miscellaneous hot key actions at the same time, two office hot key actions at the same time, or two user window hot key actions at the same time. You can, however, for example, assign the same hot key combination for a browse mode hot key action and a cursor hot key action. You can assign the same hot key combination to a browse mode hot key action and an office hot key action. You can assign the same hot key combination to an office hot key action and a user window hot key action. This is important to understand because I think the problem is that when the duplicate hot key dialog opens, you are choosing the cancel button, which is the WE default button for the duplicate hot key dialog. The cancel button closes the duplicate key dialog without defining your new hot key. What you must do then is to try defining your landmark previous hot key again. Instead of pressing Enter on the dialog, pay special attention to what Window-Eyes is saying. If a duplicate key is allowed, the allow duplicate key button will be enabled and your new hot key can be accepted by tabbing to the allow duplicate key button and pressing it. If a duplicate hot key is not allowed, the allow duplicate key button will be disabled and you will tab right past it. In the latter case, you will have to decide which hot key you would rather have with that particular hot key combination, whether the hot key that is to be replaced is one you think you will also need, and then think of another hot key combination for the new one or the old one. If the hot key being replaced is not essential to your needs, then tab to the replace button and press spacebar. If the hot key action being replaced is essential but you would like to redefine its hot key as something else, then tab to the replace and redefine button and press spacebar. Window-Eyes will jump to the hot key to be redefined and you will need to do the Alt-C, [key combination] steps for that hot key action. If you can think of another key combination for the landmark previous hot key action, then press either cancel or escape and then go about redefining the landmark previous hot key as something else. Save your settings. Hope that wasn't too confusing. To take advantage of the new support for landmarks that WE 8 beta 2 has given us. I had to customize the default hotkeys for jump to next and previous landmark so that they would work with the Swedish keyboard layout, because it differs from the American one. I was able to change the jump to next landmark to a key of my liking but when I tried to use that key in combination with the shift key to be able to jump to previous landmark I got a message saying that this key is already defined as a hotkey. I tried it several times and found out that WE just noticed the press of the first key without noticing the press the shift key. I haven't noticed this behavior in the passed Has someone else on the list experienced this problem? Regards /Joakim If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
