Focus your cursor at the zip-file, and hit Enter. The Zip-archive, will open,
and you can browse the files included, just like it had been files in a folder.
Finding the file you want, or maybe using Ctrl-A to mark all files in the
archive, you now can hit Ctrl-C. The files marked, will be copied to your
clipboard. Move to a convenient position on your computer, and hit Ctrl-V, to
paste the files, in an unpacked, standard version. Thereafter, go ahead, and
use the files as normal.

What is a zip-file, or also called a zip-archive? The easy answer: It is a
compressed file. To be a bit more detailed, let's try it this way. Normally,
you store your files, as single blocks of information. File1, will be one
block; file2, a different block; and so forth. Yet, specially when you want to
Email or upload a handful files, it would be nice, if you somehow could "pack
them all up", and simply send the whole bunch in one turn. Much like, you do
prefer to have a bag of groceries, instead of having to bring your loaf of
bread, lettuce and three containers of ice cream, loosely.

So, there does exist ways, to "collect" several files, and have them turned
into one big package. This is what is often called "File Compression". The
reason for the term "compression", is that very often, once the files have to
be packed, technologies are also being implied, that somehow will compress the
size. This is done, so as to minimize the time it takes, to upload or transfer
the final product. On the market, there is a true rain forrest, of different
standards, for how to actually accomplish such a packing and compressing task.
One of the by far most commonly known standards, is called zip. It has, for
years, been implemented into Windows - that you simply can open a zip archive,
directly in Windows Explorer. Or, you can have Windows "zip up" some of your
files, should you ever want to. Other standards, or formats, of the technology
- would include Rar, Lzh and the like. These other formats, you will need
separate third-party software, so as to handle.
