Hey Peter, Initially I had a nightmare of a time after the WE8.1 update, but all is fine now. try MY MAINTENANCE PROTOCOL after INSTALLING THE WE8.1 update and rebooting your computer. copy of protocol: Make sure to turn off the app's you do not use, and update the app's you are using. Then clean your computer of unnecessary files by window key r type cleanmgr /sageset:99 press enter then arrow down and uncheck what ever you think you don't need. I have everything checked except line 4, 6, 9, 11, 14, 20, and 21 are unchecked then press OK Now I would suggest downloading ultra defrag Warning if you have a solid state drive DO NOT DEFRAG YOUR DRIVE! Here's the link for the 32-bit:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ultradefrag/files/latest/download?source=dlp here's the link for the 64 bit: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ultradefrag/files/stable-release/5.1.2/ultradefrag-5.1.2.bin.amd64.exe/download?use_mirror=superb-dca3 After you install ultra defrag I suggest you run it at bed time, because it will take several hours. When you open ultra defrag press the alt key then arrow right twice to settings then arrow down twice to boot time and enter and enter again to enable now press alt key arrow up to repair drive and enter you will be in a dos window with a message that your drive will be repaired the next time you restart your computer press y for yes and enter now tab back to ultra defrag and press the alt key press w and arrow up to restart and enter now press the alt key now press f for a full optimization of your hard drive. Now go to bed and have pleasant dreams, and tomorrow you will have a faster computer, with a better behaving WE8.1. Let me know if this did the trick.
