Try Edit, Preferences, Security enhanced, and uncheck Enable protected
mode at start up.

documents are definitely text based; they convert out to text. But, again, they
won't display on the screen. I accepted Adobe's default accessibility settings
the first time I started the program after installation, so I can't imagine
