I have only noticed this when I have a reminder for an appointment
popping up. After I close the reminder I need to alt+tab to get into the
inbox. But the day view disappears.

Every morning when I first   open up outlook,  minesays day view.  If
Ieith do alt-tab or control-y something and go back to inbox, it's okay.
But when I first start mine isday view also.
