You're right, Dave, it only lasts a few seconds, but if it can be fixed, I'd like to give it a shot. I was using a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card, but the tecky told me that it didn't work with Win-7, so he woke up the on-board sound card of the mother board, as he said it was much better than the old one.
