The demo has certain restrictions. You can buy the unrestricted one for
around $40. It is a very good, speech friendly program and can play a
powerful game. It also provides a lot of information from which one can
learn.
Spoonbill have a self-talking chess game for blind people which is free,
but it doesn't play a particularly strong game and I do not have much of
a problem beating it, even somewhat rusty in chess as I am at the moment.

KChess Elite is also accessible. It's also self voicing, and does not
interfere with the screen reader. Once upon a time, a Window-Eyes veteran
had made set files for the program. I don't know if they're still
