Hi Shannon,

The dialogs in Outlook for customizing the views of email lists are very
complex and involved so don't take it personally that they are throwing you
for a loop. With that being said, I wanted to provide you with the steps
that you can use to reorder the columns in the current email message list.
Please keep in mind that Outlook makes it very difficult to apply the
current view to all email folders so this will only apply to the email
folder that is current selected.

1. Select the folder you want to customize (e.g. Inbox)

2. Press Alt-V to activate the View tab in the Ribbon

3. Press V to activate the View Settings Item

4. Press Space on Columns button

5. Tab to the second list which includes the currently used columns (it
will come after the Available Columns list)

6. Arrow to the column you wish to change the position of (e.g. Flag
Status)

7. Tab to the Move Up button and activate it by pressing Space until it
is moved to the top of the list (you will hear Window-Eyes announce Move
Down button when you reach the top)

8. Tab to OK and Tab to OK

Please note that you can use this technique to re-order almost all of the
columns (i.e. from, subject, size, etc) but we discovered a bug in Outlook
when attempting these steps. The Flag Status column can be moved up and
down the list in the view settings dialog, but it will not actually change
position in the email list column headers after you apply the settings.
This will happen with or without Window-Eyes running which means that this
is not a Window-Eyes issue but a bug in Outlook itself. Please don't shoot
the messenger on this one! <grin>

Thanks,

Marc Solomon

Subject: Arrangement of columns in Outlook 2010

Good morning

I have flagged a couple of messages in my Inbox of Outlook 2010.

I noticed that the indicator that the message is flagged is not spoken until

the end of the line

How can I move that information over to the beginning of the message line?

I thought I could do it with the view settings but I can't understand what

is happening in the section of the window to choose a view setting. I tried

to create my own view that would appear to have that flagged indicator

before the from field but I can't figure out how to apply the newly created

setting. When in the area that would tell me what view is being chosen WE is

saying a lot of information that I don't understand. Is there a way to

change the way WE is reading this list box so it is more intelligible?

Has anyone tried to change their view settings in Outlook 2010 and is

hearing what I am hearing?

It is very strange.

Thanks

Shannon
