There is one thing to be aware of when applying the Windows Mail hack to
windows 7. I did this hack when I bought my windows 7 computer a while
back. The windows 7 service pack 1 would not install with this hack. I
have to reinstall windows 7 to get the service pack to install. Since then,
I've been using windows live mail.

FYI,
You can also get Windows Live Mail 2009, from the link below, which
has a standard menu bar:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_windows_live_mail/8305/
Alternatively, please see:
http://help.lockergnome.com/general/Activate-Windows-Mail-win--ftopict64316.html
, for a way to activate Windows Mail, on Windows 7. And just to
clarify, this trick does work.
Bad Microsoft for not removing the Windows mail folder in the first place!

You may want to take a look at the "Becky" email program. you can
google it. It works with screen readers quite well. I believe there's
a demo for free and it's $40 for the program. I've been using it for a
few months and am quite happy with it.
