Hi Vince,

To go into the manual and see its table of contents, go to the help menu in
the WE control panel, choose documentation, and then the manual choice. In
their will be a section on hotkeys, and in there the default layout, and in
there will be one for browse mode, and in its help text should be a section
on reading tables.

All of the table commands count on you first going into table mode with a
special hotkey command of ctrl-numbpad plus (and ctrl-numbpad minus leaves
table mode) when the browse mode cursor is positioned somewhere within a
table. Then, you can use all the table navigation commands, which are
insert-up arrow to go up a row, insert-right arrow to go right a cell, and
many more, to move around within the table.

Besides the manual, you can get a quick list of the table mode hotkeys by
going into the WE control panel, moving in the treeview to the hotkeys,
expanding it and moving to browse mode, then tab over one and go down the
list of browsemode hotkeys and you'll find all the table mode hotkeys
listed.

For some reason the keyboard describer mode doesn't seem to tell you that a
given keystroke is a table mode command instead of its normal function.

Chip

Chip,

What are the WE keyboard commands for tables? Or how do I find them. Way
in the back of my old head I think they are on the num pad. I cannot find
them in the manual.

Also how do you fine the table of content in WE? Did it change with WE
8.2?

Don,

I'm sure this must be in the manual somewhere, although you may have to
search for it, as I find the organization of the table of contents not as
helpful as it could be. In any case, you must enter "table mode" before you
can use any of the special table navigation commands you are picturing.
They are all usually some combination of the insert key and a cursor
movement key (such as insert-right-arrow to move one cell to the right).

Table mode works really well, and sometimes you can even have a web designer
who will place an entire table as a cell within a larger table, and table
mode even handles that; allowing you to go deeper into nested levels of
tables, or come back up a level, or just pop out of all tables.

You can also work with row headers and column headers, so that WE will read
to you say the first cell on each row as you navigate up and down the rows
in some other column; if you move from column to column you can set WE to
read you the top cell of each column before reading you the cell as well.
It really does work great.

Chip

Subject: reading tables

Hi:

I think getting to a table on the Internet is by hitting the letter t and I
am on a table.

I looked at the we manual and could not find specific info on tables, so,
what is the best way of reading tables?

Not sure if all tables are the same, but, I assume rows and columns.

Can you read across a row in one key or combination?

Or cell by cell?

And the same with collumns, complete column or cell by cell?

I can bet buy with just some tips, and then perhaps I can do the rest.

Thanks

Don
