Hello Lynn,

The basics of Sonar have been usable for many years now, and we've done
some work recently with Cakewalk to improve the usability of Sonar X1
and X2 with our Sonar Enhance app. The biggest obstacle that exists for
all screen reader users is the varying levels of usability found in the
included effects and virtual instruments. Some are workable with the
mouse while others are virtually, if not completely, inaccessible. The
majority of these issues can be mitigated with some Window-Eyes hot spot
definitions, but thus far no one has created any of them.

>From a hot key standpoint, Sonar 8.5 provides more options to work with
out of the box (particularly in the area of making selections), though
it's possible to reassign commands in X1 or X2 to attain the same level
of access. As Sonar comes in a variety of versions, I would strongly
suggest trying out one of the demos from Cakewalk's web site so you can
decide whether the program will meet your needs. You might also
investigate the Sonar Enhance app from
http://www.gwmicro.com/apps/Sonar_Enhance if you opt to use either X1 or X2.

Regards,
Steve
