Hi Dave,

If a Word document contains text boxes, you can use the Page Navigation
dialog (Insert-Tab by default) to list the text boxes in the document and to
bring a selected text box into focus so you can interact with it. Press the
hotkey, arrow to the text box you want to read or edit in the list and press
Enter. Doing so will close the dialog and place your insertion point inside
of the text box with edit mode turned on. If you are done reading or
editing the text in the text box, you can press ESC to leave edit mode and
then press ESC a second time to move away from the text box and back into
the text in your document. Just as a side note, after pressing ESC the
first time, you leave edit mode but your focus is still on the text box
object. At this point, you could use your arrow keys to reposition the text
box in the document. Pressing ESC again will move focus away from the text
box object and allow you to read or edit the text in the document. I hope
you find this info helpful.

Best Regards,

Marc

Hi, if someone sends me a doc in word 2010 that has text boxes, how do I
read them and/or edit them?
