Hello Brenda,

I can't say much about Windows 8, but I'm running Windows 7 x64 with Window-Eyes 8.3. As for WLM, I gave it the ol' heave-ho, and migrated all my e-mail to Mozilla Thunderbird, and I am very glad I did. Window-Eyes tracks the cursor very well, whether by word or individual character, in the composition window.

Hearing what people say about NVDA, I'm tempted to use another screen reader, even some of the time, but, you know, I never do; you know why, Window-Eyes just has too much power for me, especially given that I write lots of apps and depend on them way too much to ever be able to go to an environment where I won't have access to them. Anyone can criticize Window-Eyes or GW all they want, not that I'm saying you are bashing them; I'll never leave them. I just searched too long for such a powerful solution.

Respectfully,

Rod

I have a lot of the problems netbat is mentioning. I don't seem to have the
dropbox problems, but I do have the Windows Live Mail 2012 problems with the
keyboard. Like Netbat, I can use NVDA and it works just fine. My keyboard
works like it should then. I can edit delete characters add characters
isnert stuff and so on, but not with Window-Eyes 8.3 and Windows 7 Home
Premium 64-bit. This sure is strange, to say the least.

I wont' be buying Window-Eyes 8.3 if I can't do any better than that. I
guess it's a good thing I only have the demo version.

Take care,

Brenda

Subject: more problems with w e 8.3 and win8.1

first i even uninstalled w e 8.3 and used the emergency removal tool. it
didn't make any difference. all the problems are the same.

, i found another problem.
dropbox 2.26 will not load with w e 8.3 is running.
when i boot win 8.1 64bit it will not load. and when i try to load it
manually it will try to run and exit.
when loading it manually normally i can click on the dropbox folder twice.
once loads the program the second time the folder will open.
but to load dropbox now i could do one of two things.
unload w e, load dropbox then reload w e or else set w e to not load on
startup. wait until i am on the desktop then manually load w e. then dropbox
will load and run before w e is loaded.
i can not compose a message with live mail 2012. the edit keys do not work.
there is no insert key it will just move the letter over. i can not
overwrite a letter i want to change.
most of the time w e will not say anything when i type. i can load nvda and
it works fine. speech and letter navigation work.
half the time when i reply w e focus will be in the to field, not in the
compisition window.
i still don't have any of these problems with w e 8.3 with win 7 64bit.
