yeah you and me both. It would give me an excuse to by a tablet or
laptop with a touchscreen. Just bought a samsung ultrabook and opted not
to get the touchscreen, the 400 bucks off the msrp helped too though.

No there are not two many interfaces because what you do with touch
doesn't have to effect what you do on the keyboard a layer could be
added to the keyboard to make the keyboard emulate a touch screen if
you wished to do so and in some cases this would be a really good
thing to do. the wonderful thing here is that you would still keep
your windows keyboard support the best support out there if you ask me
you are just adding a new method of doing things. The user can use it
or not.
No reason I can see why a vb template could not be maid for adding
touch support for the apps and the window-eyes frame work system of
course would add the ability to speak with the windows eyes com to
register touch modes sub modes and commands. Of course the real work
would have to be done buy gw micro to make the object and then write
apps that used them to provide real world working examples.
I my self would love to beta test any such animal as well smile.

that's a really good idea, actually. So in other words, could you
create some sort of vb template to use for touch-based interaction and
then just apply it to all window-eyes apps? Winamp would be a good
trial for something like that. I have an android tablet and haven't a
clue as to what I'm doing with it, just bought it as a toy, really.
But I gotta say that I'd love to beta test a touch system for we,
although to play devil's advocate, or I suppose this would be
keyboard's advocate, this would mean coding for another interface on
top of the keyboard one for window-eyes which also of course now
included the insert key layout. So maybe there are too many interfaces?

Ok just so everyone knows winamp isn't going away after all. this
is good news for those of us who use a screen reader like
window-eyes. The winamp accessability threw the winamp app is
wonderful. Thanks jeff for all the good work here and keep it up.
It will be interesting to see what can be done with touch and
winamp do to the fact that the other screen readers I have tried
here doesn't really work with touch.
This is another reason touch modes need to be added to apps. So
lets say you are in winamp. You then turn on the winamp mode buy
flicking 2 digits down the screen tell you here winamp. Then
flick up and down tell you here the command set you want for
example play back controls. Now flick left or right tell you
here the option you want and then double tap. The window-eyes
winamp app would then send the command along to winamp it self.
This way you could provide access to programs that don't use UIA
or any other means of allowing window-eyes to provide touch
elaments. Ok I know I got touch on the brain right now sorry.
