Tom and folks,
While this is the same version of Window-Eyes, if the poster to this
thread asking if a mobile version of Window-Eyes can be made has
grabbed the software download of the current release or any future
version, then the answer to making a mobile program is no.
If you look at the GWMicro catalog page,
http://www.GwMicro.com/catalog, you can order a CD of
WindowEyesForOffice for 20 dollars (US price only). Also, be aware
that the catalog page for the CD makes it clear that all sales of this
product are final and that no returns are allowed. Getting the CD
version of WindowEyesForOffice in the mail, will allow you to run the
mobile Window-Eyes installer that your used to running for mobile
installations if that's truly what the person who asked about making
mobile versions wishes to do.
However, I strongly suggest that the poster of that mobile Window-Eyes
creation question goes back to the Town Hall meeting recordings and
listens to both parts.
Also if anybody is still confused I'll just repeat what Tom and
others as well as GW Micro staff have repeated continuesly since the
launch of this offer, that being that Their is no rreal difference
(beyond five) differences between the retail and WindowEyesForOffice
offer, all of which are documented clearly here:
http://www.windoweyesforoffice.com/FAQ/
As you can see, all of those differences are easily resolved
by buying the synthesizers you wish, and by obtaining a GW Connect
Activation from the GWMicro catalog, amongst other things.
The FAQ is well written, and I strongly encourage everybody who has
not read it to do so, so as to avoid a repeat of repetitive
already-documented-questions going around on the GW-Info mailing list
regarding this offer.
Besides. If I don't tel you folks to read the FAQ a hundred times
over, Tom, Aaron Smith, Doug, Dan, and others will just point you
folks at the FAQ anyways ultimately, unless your support questions are
about WindowEyesForOffice installations.
Just remember that Office is the way this offer runs without needing
to reboot your machine, and that beyond the five differences, their
are no differences in functionality, features, update downloads for
new versions of Window-Eyes, or anything else.
One of the differences in the FAQ document is also the technical support.
You'll have to pay for support that falls outside of the installation
related questions.
I think that's a very fare thing to do, though, and this is more than
likely partly at least, why this offer is free.
Time is money, that's a saying you'll hear a lot, and whenever you buy
the retail version of Window-Eyes, your not just paying for the right
to run it in an unrestricted form, but also paying for unlimited
technical support as part of the $895 price.
By stripping out technical support for common things beyond
installation related questions since GW Micro has a great selection of
tutorials, manuals and so on with the WindowEyesForOffice offer
unless you pay for it, this helps to give Window-Eyes to those who
never could have had it previously, and as of now, just so the rest of
you know, this offer replaces the GWMicro Window-Eyes payment plan
program.
This will treuly put Window-Eyes into the hands of computer users
worldwide for sure, and I'd like to just take a moment to write here
as well, and say thank you to Dan, Doug, Aaron Smith, and all the
others at Gw Micro who have partnered with Microsoft over the last
many months to make this truly a ground-breaking breakthrough in
commercial screen reader assistive technology that until now, has
truly been unavailable to many folks worldwide for sure.
I think this will give folks who have always wanted to get their hands
on Window-Eyes but who couldn't afford to throw out $895 for the
program a great way to use their computers.
I thought I'd just point out something else, that not everybody may be
aware of, but if your PC doesn't come with Office, or if you've done a
custom Windows install (as I tend to do all the time), then you can
easily get your hands on a full copy of Office if you have an
Amazon.com account.
The Home and business version of Office 2013 (single user, one PC
license), can easily be obtained here:
http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Office-Business-2013-Download/dp/B00B1TGMIS
Their are download instructions on that page, as well as pricing. I
believe it's only $219 to afford Office fully through Amazon if you
don't already have it, and need it for running WindowEyesForOffice.
Just thought that would help people who don't have Office easily get
their hands on it.
And if you don't have $219, well, then, start saving dollars. Grin.
Hopefully this helps enable those PC users who don't have Office
obtain a copy for use with WindowEyesForOffice.
For people wanting to run Office on multiple PCS I'm sure the price
goes way up, and that's beginning to get off topic, but if all you
need is Office for one machine, then their you go.
Thanks again to GW Micro for making this available.

Sincerely,

Keith
