Hello Drew and list, if you are not running WE 8.4 an update may solve the problem as startup and shutdown of WE have been optimized. If the shutdown sound is played then it is safe to assume that WE has terminated completely, even though some of its helper processes may still be present. If the sound does not play after a minute or so I usually terminate wineyes.exe and bdisplay.exe using task manager. The others can be left running.
