Hi Craig. I have seen your later message on this topic, and I wish you good luck in making the Focus displays more useful with Window-eyes.
I do not think that there is a way of getting this display to allow for direct text input with Window-eyes. It is beyond my expertise to devise a way of allowing for this, but maybe someone can. A real point of frustration for me is that Freedom Scientific will not work with GW Micro to improve the performance of the Focus displays with Window-Eyes. That's business I guess! Good luck with your efforts - I'm watching with interest as I like the Focus displays but I may replace mine with a display whose support of Window-eyes is more helpful than Freedom Scientific's. And, can I leave my QWERTY K keys hooked up since I'm using a PS-two keyboard, or, do I disconnect all keyboards and only use the braille display? What does GW Micro mean when it says (GDB) in the hot key deffinitions? This is all new. Thank you for your patience. That's what I ended up doing From: craig martin [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, February 05, 2014 7:04 AM To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Subject: FOCUS BRAILLE DISPLAY AND VERSION 8.4 Hello, I am running version 8.4 which is driving a Focus Braille Display. I look in the manual under the hot key settings, and GW Micro uses the term GDB. What key is that? How do you put the display in braille input mode? It seems to follow the cursor and the mouse nicely. I figured out where some of the key's are by trial and error. Others don't seem to work. Do I have to disconnect the QWERTY keyboard to enable Braille input? I called and wrote GW's support team, and they seemed to be lost. The display manufacturer's manual says if you run third-party software, the third-party developers are the best folks to go to for support for their code. Programmers from GW Micro worked on the code that controls the display under Window-eyes. Please understand I'm not condemning their work, just need some help from an expert on its use. I'm assuming pilot error. Thank you, Craig Martin ------------------------------- This email and any attachments may contain information that is confidential and subject to legal privilege.
