I've enquired on the list too many times already about problems with a Windows 8.1 laptop. The last bastion of sanity -- was its Firefox installation. Now that is going rather berserk, and I'm looking for ways to get it back to normal.
Rather than opening "Startpage.com> W.E. now says, "Search Firefox." There are lots of links and long number sequences; the word "Conduit" is often spoken. Links can be tabbed to, but they're mostly nameless. Am I somehow in the shadow world of Metro Apps? Did Bing Bar get onto the system and ruin everything. If so, a cursory look at add/remove says nothing about Bing. I'm not making this up and would now be lost without the Win7 machine. I've tried dealing with this for a few days and can only submit it to the collective wisdom of the list. Thoughts, anyone? till the next Heartbleed, Bugbear, Doomsday or Michaelangelo Virus!
