Hi David and all
I'll just write in to inform you that there is now a way to get
Outlook Express to work under Windows Vista and later. I have it here
and is working well. No manual hacking is required. You just install
Outlook Express like any other program and it will magically appear
and work. Please let us know if interested. Thanks!

I recently transfered from XP to more modern PCs. As part of the
transfer, I had to get a new mail client, after being used to Outlook
Express for more than a decade. There are several things I find tricky
in Thunderbird, the new client I am using.
Yet, one thing I would like to know if there is a workaround or setting
for, is this. When I see a message I want to reply to, I hit the
Ctrl-Shift-R, to reply to all. Up comes the window for me to write my
reply. Trouble is, that the cursor steadily gets positioned at the
bottom of the thread. As you all know, typically the reply should be
inserted at top of the message. OK, no, I am not starting a discussion
on whether the reply should be found at top or bottom of the message,
but the general practice on this list and many others, is to have the
reply inserted at top. In Outlook Express, this was really easy, as the
cursor always landed at top when you hit the reply button. It was simply
just start typing, and send your message.
My experience with Thunderbird its, that the cursor consequently lands
at bottom of the message, and I will have to keep remembering to hit the
Ctrl-Home, to get to the top, prior to start my typing. Apparently, I am
getting old, since I keep forgetting this extra keystroke.
Now, you users who are well-experienced with Thunderbird, is there a
setting somewhere, that I have missed, which will force the replies to
be inserted at top of the message? If not, could this be part of the
Thunderbird Enhance app?

Oh, great news!
Could you give more info? What do I need to do to get that going? I do
have my old XP disc sitting somewhere, if that is needed. Or, is there a
download available? And what other steps are needed to install OE on
newer flavors? Funny when you have got used to something. Smile. I know,
there was some way to do the installation earlier as well, but it
required some meddling with the Registry.
Thanks alot,
