Hi Mike,

After a little research, I found that there is a setting in Outlook 2003 and
above that will cause all incoming emails to be displayed in plain text. To
disable this setting, you need to go into the Outlook options (Alt-F, T in
Outlook 2010 and above), then the Trust Center (use down arrow or first
letter navigation to find this option in the list) and then press Alt-T to
open the Trust Center Settings dialog. Up arrow to Email Security and then
tab to the read all mail in plain text check box and uncheck it by pressing
Spacebar. Don't forget to activate the OK button after checking the check
box. Here is a link to a Microsoft Knowledge Base article that explains how
to enable the plain text setting, so you can follow the steps in the article
but instead of checking the read all mail in plain text check box, you will
want to uncheck it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/831607. I hope you find
this info helpful.

Regards,

Marc

Hello fellow window-eyes users:

I've noticed that lately when I open an email message in outlook, no matter

who its from or what format the sender composed the message in, Window-Eyes

will say "plain text" as the message is opening. While this can be

convenient for reading the text of a message, it can cause a bit of an

inconvenience, because when messages are in plain text, you don't have

access to options for downloading, opening or printing attachments. I don't

remember ever changing this setting. Is there an accessible way that I can

fix outlook so that messages will automatically open as html? Thus, I'd like

to set things back, so that all messages I open in outlook will open as web

layout and/or html. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mike
