Ok, now that was funny. But seriously, regardless of when the release comes,
you are absolutely right about there not being a right to information
inherent in holding SMAs. SMA ownership grants exactly two rights, nothing
more, nothing less, the right to one major upgrade of the relevant
application per SMA and support of that version of the application as long
as that version is supported by the developer. Anyone who thinks otherwise
might want to try purchasing some SMAs or other software subscription plans
from some of the big players in the software industry and then informing
them that you now have a right to proprietary information on the next major
update and the planned release date and then wait for the reply. If one is
granted any extra informational rights from a particular developer when
purchasing SMAs, one would know by the NDA they will certainly be required
to sign upon purchase.
This doesn't address why a developer would or would not release any
information. I really don't think it should take much consideration to
figure out why developers have legitimate reasons to be pretty close mouthed
about development and release dates, but perhaps I have watched too many
occurrences of people taking anything said by a developer as set in stone
and acting as if any changes are a violation of some unwritten contract, not
to mention misinterpretation, speculation by users in discussion somehow
becoming something said by the developers and so on and so forth. Why, it
often doesn't take long for discussion of release dates and such to morph
into speculation that a company is shutting down since the release didn't
come when a user expected and quickly, people are asking who knows what and
when about when the doors will be shut. Running into this a couple of times
or even watching it happen to other companies wouldn't make me want to share
all of the proprietary details held by a company I owned.
Just my 2 yen.
regards,
chris

Okay, George. Here goes.
I figure any crystal ball is as good as the next. So let's see when
Window-Eyes 9 will be released.
I'm waving my hands over it. I'm focusing, tuning in, my brain is
beginning to vibrate. Arg! I'd rather a frontal lobotomy than this
crystal ball in front of me. but wait! Wait! Grunt! Here it comes! It's
coming to me! Yes! Yes! Yaawaa hooHoo!
Abalalalaahababulbah!
By Jove, I think I've got it. Yes. Of course. Indeed. Precisely.
Window-Eyes 9 will be released on 17 September. Or was that 7?
Oh well. Jolly ho! Time to go, mate.
civil rights have been restored.
The Wizard! Poof!

AI Squared is not being less than forthcoming. And we have no right to
know anything.
The same GW Micro (plus) development team is constantly at work on
Window-Eyes. And they do not have a crystal ball to predict the future.
They demonstrated a prototype of Window-Eyes 9 which is more or less to
show that they are indeed working on it and what the main focus of that
work is. It's a no win situation for them no matter what they do because
it's impossible to put a date on an undertaking as enormous as rewriting
browse mode, let alone the never ending battle against inaccessible
non-standard ever changing Windows and programs.
Once upon a time they estimated release dates and folks ripped them up
and down if it wasn't out on that day. So I don't blame them. And I
agree wholeheartedly with their philosophy. The next update will be
released when it's done and done right. They're only human.
We have no right to know when the next version of Window-Eyes, Windows,
or any other program on the planet will be released.
Regards,
Tom

So if you have seen it, why is AI Squared less than forthcoming TO THE
MASSES OF US WHO HAVE NOT SEEN IT?
When will it be released is something we now have a right to know. ai
Squared
now has our SMAs, and SMAs are customer commitments to the future of
Window-Eyes. We are making statements through purchases of Software
Maintenance Agreements that we have confidence in Window-Eyes.

Vaughan,
Window Eyes 9 will be out when AISquaired says it is ready. It will be
Window
Eyes 9 and it does have a complete rewrite of brows mode because I
have seen
it. Good things happen to people that wait.
This is all I am saying on the matter.
Thank you.
