The windows 8.1 skype app is pretty usable however.
At least it is with system access.

actually it is not GW connect that is incompatible with Windows 8.1. It is
actually the Skype kit provided by Microsoft that GW connect users to
interface with Skype. That is not compatible with Windows 8.1. Considering
the fact that Microsoft has ceased support for the Skype runtime, it is very
probable that this program will never work under Windows 8.1 and later.
The distinction is important here, because if it was a GW connect problem,
then AISquaired could probably fix the problem. Unfortunately, considering
the fact that it is a problem with the Skype kit. There is absolutely
nothing AISquaired can do to solve the problem. This is why you have seen
increased support for Skype under Window-Eyes itself.
I'm sorry that I do not have better news.

Unfortunately this program is not compatible under Windows 8.1.
Frustrating we know but that's what it is at the moment. Try the native
desktop client which should work fine.
