Yes thagt'that's what I did, and am happy to have restored the
behavior of hearing the beeps plus the spoken message.

The default behavior was changed to only play the progress tones. You
can restore the previous behavior by visiting the Progress Indicator
options in the Window-Eyes Apps menu.
