The first thing I would do is check and make sure that Num Lock is turned off. Num Lock has to be off in order to use the Mouse hot keys issued from the numeric keypad. You also might want to check and make sure that the Insert Key Layout didn't get toggled on accidentally. Pressing Control-Alt-0 enables or disables the Insert Key Layout. I hope this helps.
