Why can't you all be happy about it?
If you don't want it or think the contest is stupid, just don't enter and give a better chance to the rest of us who want it.smile

Original message:
Let us also add abysmal communications from AI Squared.

My complaint was dealt with by AI Marketing, and my request to negotiate some arrangement where I might be accepting was ignored.

David: I have read your ogther message on this subject - thank you for being considerate, thorough and for providing other reasons why this competition is shonky.

Vaughan.

Very likely, not legal in all countries. And very likely, simply not considered good business and promotional behavior in may local cultures either. I do not know, but at least don't see much of it here. Even see loads of warnings to stay away from this kind of stuff. Wish they had come up with something more beneficial to the customers, and rather spend all that time on getting things working in the screen reader. No need for 50 dollars, all the time I cannot properly access my bbank's homepage, due to trouble with the screen reader under certain internet sites, for instance. Leave the promotional nig-nag for the big-business world, and rather spend your time on getting the updated version of the screen reader out to the market. At least, what I feel would have benefited the market the better. Sorry, just don't see how this kind of contest ever benefits anyone.n

It may be due to some law, or agreement with other countries. Maybe something such as this is not legal in other countries? Or maybe not legal for the U.S. to have this sort of raffle in another country.

NO, you are not alone. I am from Canada and have owned it since 3.1 I
think or perhaps before and always kept current but because I live
across a border, can't win.

Hi Listers,
I take exception to the below message for the following reasons.

The message begins:
At Ai Squared, it’s our pleasure to extend rewards to loyal customers
like you.

But then goes on to say:
(Note: You must reside in the United States).

Well, I don't reside in the US but have had a retail version of WEa
for around 20 years and currently have some unused SMA's also. I have
no idea how much has been spent on updates, SMA's and voices over the
time but no doubt, a considerable amount.

but, because I don't live in the US, I am not eligible to enter the
competition which deals with a Company that sells on the net anyway.

What percentage of GW Micro's income has been obtained from overseas
buyers over the years is impossible for me to know. But, no doubt
there are more blind people living in the rest of the World than
currently live in the US.

However, the real annoyance comes from the fact that someone who has
recently downloaded a free copy of WE under the Microsoft Office
arrangement and lives in the US is eligible to enter. Unlike those of
us who live elsewhere in the World and have contributed much to GW
Micro's income over the years.

It is realised that the competition prize is not all that generous but
to me, it is the principle of it.

What do other overseas retail owners of WE think or am I just being
too sensitive?
Neville.
