Window-Eyes Product Support Ai Squared 725 Airport North Office Park Fort Wayne, IN 46825 (802) 362-3612 www.aisquared.com<http://www.aisquared.com/> From: Albert Toh [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, September 28, 2014 7:35 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Opening Skype with W-E8.4 running. For those of you who have problems with Skype crashing and using WE 8.4, I thought I should share my personal experience with this issue here on this list as well, and you decide if you would like to take the steps I have taken rather than those recommended by GWKB2059. They work for me, but I'm not sure if it will work for you. Instead of taking the steps recommended in GWKB2059, I completely uninstalled Skype version 6.18 from my computer, restarted the PC, deleted all references to Skype from the roaming folder, then installed Skype version 6.20 (which I believe is the latest version) by using the Ninite installer. Skype worked every time, with only one crash on initial opening of the reinstalled programme. Restarted my PC just to make sure Skype will work and it has not crashed. Just remember to allow wecom.exe to work with Skype and turn on accessibility mode under Options, accessibility. GWKB2059 recommends that users who experience Skype crashes uninstall Windows update (KB2977629), and then hiding the update so that the update would not show up again. This would mean that users of Internet Explorer could potentially be exposed to 1 publicly disclosed and 36 privately reported vulnerabilities when they unknowingly view maliciously crafted webpages. .. The steps I have listed above will hopefully not compromise the security of unsuspecting users in any way. I stand corrected if what I have listed above causes more harm than good. Your thoughts and feedback will be most gratefully appreciated. Thanks and regards, Albert If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
