Hi Tom, Did you open a contact, press Escape to close it, and then immediately press Escape again? This is the sequence which kills Skype for me. Also, the Close option on the Skype menu doesn't do anything on my system. I'm running the current version of Skype.

You can minimize it to the SysTray with Alt-S Skype, L Close. Then use the Window-Eyes Insert-S key combination to open the SysTray view, select Skype, Alt-R to right click, and the context menu will give you the options to actually close the program, open the window again, and so on.
