this might be because of the windows scheme that is being used. but leabve
this alone. grin. this will change all your system sound settings too. grin.
any way mine does not say task switching when i open the run dialog. it says
run. and it does this automatically.
my run dialog does not have a set file associated with the run dialog. it is
useing the default.set file.
check this for all your set files.
look in verbocity/common/activated and make sure speak titles is turned on.
with this off the dialog boxes will not announce the titles.
when i turned this off the title would not speak.

Subject: WE 8.4 stuck on task switching title in windows 8

Hi. For some time now, I have noticed that Window-Eyes has this annoying
habit of not pronouncing the current window when I open up an
application. For example, if I press the Windows key plus r to open the
run dialog box, the box opens but Window-Eyes doesn't speak the title. I
couldn't figure out why this was going on and never thought to push the
Windows title hotkey (control shift T.) It was only then that I
discovered that the title of the window was listed as "task switching."
This is an extreme annoyance which had been brought up on the list
before but I don't know if there have been any resolutions to the
problem. So, in this case, Window-Eyes is getting stuck on this "task
switching" window. The only way I've found to get out of it is to press
some other key like the tab key. However, it seems to also render the
mouse cursor useless. This is especially evident when opening the
properties of a file or folder, realizing that you are stuck in the
purgatory of "task switching," pressing tab (which would have your
cursor on a checkbox which Window-Eyes would not speak), going to the
top left of the window with your mouse cursor and trying to read down
which yields nothing. This behavior is intermittent, sometimes WE is
fine and switches windows and reads them fine. other times, it gets
stuck. This "task switching" thing of course always comes up when you
alt tab. Again, this was brought up earlier on the list, but I'm not
sure of a resolution. I searched the archives and couldn't seem to find
anything. Perhaps I missed something? So, it looks like if I alt tab
from one window to another, Window--Eyes will read the windows around it
but not speak the text of the current one. This does not have to do with
any apps that I have installed because they're currently off. Is anybody
else experienced this rather irksome behavior? If so, some enlightenment
would be much appreciated. Thanks, Dave
