Skype is usable, but it's cluttered, even in compact view. I find the regular Skype software accessible and usable. I can't think of what advantages you would get by running a hacked version of GW Connect, when you can just use Skype. I can't verify if this works on windows eight, however, as I don't have a windows eight machine to test. But it does work on windows seven, sixty four bit.
