I've had similar trouble with the beta and IE eleven. I can get focus in the reading pane or whatever it's called by pressing Alt-D for the address bar, followed by Enter. If that doesn't work, I try the WE redraw hot key. If that doesn't work, I try F5 and then the WE redraw hot key. If all else fails, I press Control-Alt-W and let WE relaunch. That brings focus back where it belongs about 99 percent of the time.
In the case of the web page you provided, Alt-D followed by Enter did the trick.
