Over the last couple of days I've been having these problems.

Initiating Read-to-end with my own keystroke combo altered from the
original, ctrl-pause, almost always fails, resulting in the word "pause"
being voiced, unless I make certain that speech has stopped. I have to hold
down the ctrl key, and when speech has stopped, elapsed time being very
variable here, then I add the pause key. The process now takes a great deal
longer to complete than it used to!

Read-current-line, using ctrl-numpad-center, often says "blank" the first
time. When it fails, if I issue the command more than once, it suddenly
works.

Ctrl-Home often doesn't get there; I usually must issue the command a second
time.

And yet, as I write this, efforts to duplicate some of these complaints
within this document are also failing-making a fool out of me!

I'm running a desktop PC with a Core I7 processor, WE 8.4, Microsoft
Security Essentials and Malware bytes. Malware Bytes has been stopped from
updating its engine, but definitions are still updating. I've run scans
using both programs, and have even run a scan with the Microsoft Malware
Removal tool, and all report finding nothing. But this sure does make me
think it is a virus of some sort.

I've ordered WE 9, and that is probably in the mail. I'd like this cleared
up before I install the new WE. Anyone else have similar complaints? What
can I do next?
