I tried all of the options using control+shift+h and nothing changed in the
verbosity. Still says table 3 rows 2 columns. If I could fix this, could get
Window eyes to stop reading the URL of a link instead of its text about half
the time and could get Window Eyes 9.0 to read the mouseovers in lists of books
on Audible the way that WE 8.4 and the current NVDA do, I think I could deal
with all of the other quirks I’ve encountered so far. There are other bugs, but
I think all of the bigger bugs I’ve run into are already on AI Squared’s list
to squash in the next update or so.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion.

Regards,

Chris

Hi Chris,

As the documentation mentions, there is a new intelligent method of reading
column and row headers implemented in WE 9.0, based on your most recent
navigation.

My suggestion is that you simply use Control-Shift-H to change to the setting
of “No headers” and see if you get less verbosity.

Rod

Subject: Changing verbosity of tables

I am still looking for a way to get Window Eyes to read table information as it
did in the past. For example, on the forum I am reading right now,
www.blu-ray.com, each thread displays each post as its own table and it
displays 40 per page. In the past Window Eyes would say ‘Table 1’, ‘Table 2’
and so on. Now it reads ‘Table, 3 rows, 2 columns’ for all of the tables. I
don’t really care how many rows and columns each table has. This is extraneous,
even unwanted information to me. I want to know which table I am on. To top it
off, the reading of the unwanted table information often makes it difficult to
hear the information about whether the post is old or unread. Sometimes that
information is read close enough to the table information that it is hard to
understand and other times the table information seems to be read over the
message status information.

I have tried to change settings to get the verbosity back to the way it used to
be, but so far I have had no luck. I would like to know if there is a way to
change settings so that things are read the way I want them read or if not, I
would like to request that the missing verbosity options be returned in a
future update.

Thank You,

Chris
