Hi Barbara,
Just for testing, have you tried disabling the Outlook Enhance app. I'm still using WE 8.4, and so I can't speak to WE 9.0, but I have noticed that not all the apps actually improve accessibility for all versions of the applications for which they were written. For example, I haven't seen any noticeable loss of accessibility of my Skype since I disabled the Skype Enhance app. The apps are written to address many issues, but it is too much to expect them to cover every possible situation for every user. And so, in order to disable a particular app, this is the procedure: 1. Make the program whose app you wish to disable the active program. 2. Press Control-backslash to activate the Window-Eyes control panel. 3. Press Alt-A to open the Apps menu. And then press right arrow to open the first option, App Management. 4. Press P to choose App Manager or arrow to this option and press Enter. 5. In the App Manager dialog, you will now be in a list of running apps. Tabbing once will bring you to the Display Apps radio button, and this is usually set to Global, the third position. 6. Set the Display apps radio button to Program, the fourth position, and you will then hear the name of the program which had been active when you invoked the App Manager. 7. If you now press Shift-Tab once, you will be in the list of running apps which are specific to the program which had been active when you invoked the App Manager. 8. In order to disable any of these apps, you need to tab to the Show more options check box, which is just after the Display apps radio button, and ensure that it is checked. 9. At this point, you may navigate back to the list of running apps, highlight the one you wish to disable, and then press Alt-E to disable that app, or you could tab to the Disable button and activate the button. Note that Alt-E will toggle the enabling or disabling of the highlighted app, and the button which does the same function changes its name depending on the state of the app in question. I offer the above steps in order to allow the user to have more control over their system performance, rather than assuming that everything should work perfectly just because the correct apps are installed. smile Good luck, Rod From: Barbara Sheinbein [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, February 02, 2015 1:46 PM To: 'Vaughan Dodd'; [email protected] Subject: RE: Outlook problems I have had this same issue with Outlook 2007 since I installed the WE 9 upgrade a week ago. I have contacted Tech Support by telephone and also had a few emails on this as well. My last contact was last Thursday. I have not heard back, so I am assuming that no solution has been found. Just so I can read my messages, I use the reply command and I can read the message. Of course I do not actually send a reply in most cases. I am just trying to read the message body. I have had mixed success using the alt-tab to move away from the message and then alt-tab back to it as another way to read the message body. Hoping for a solution soon, Barbara From: Vaughan Dodd [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, February 01, 2015 8:32 PM To: 'gwmicro' Subject: Outlook problems Hi all. I apologise if others have reported this, but as I wasn't having the problem, I didn't pay attention. So: whenever I press "enter" to go to the body of a message, I'm taken back to the "from" field. This has been ever since installing Window-Eyes v9 on my employer's Windows seven machine. We are using Office 2010. Other aspects of Window-eyes v9 are a definite improvement on this workstation - keyboard responsiveness for text entry is much much better. Thanks for suggestions as to how to fix this strange focusing problem in the Outlook message body.
