Hello, Good morning.

Please use the Window Eyes removal tool to remove your copy of Window Eyes
and then reinstall.

Before you do the reinstall, disable any ante virus programs that are
running on your system.

Please have your reinstall media at hand when you do the reinstall of Window
Eyes.

Thank you.

Subject: issue upgrading to WE 9

All,

This is a question I'd call AI Squared on, but I'm at work during their
normal hours, so I'll need to adjust my work schedule when I have my home
laptop handy. So, tossing this out to see if anyone has a suggestion I can
try tonight on my own time.

I was running the WE 9 beta 1 on my laptop and followed the prompt the other
day to upgrade to the full version 9. It seemed to go OK, but I was pretty
much letting it run in the background while I read mail. A day later, after
turning on my PC, I noticed that it was giving me a warning about being in
demo mode and WE was about to shut down in 5 minutes. Since I had just
gotten my new WE 9 disk in the mail, I decided to just reinstall and not
worry about whatever happened to put me in demo mode. The set up wizard
told me I had a current copy of WE running and I needed to uninstall that.
I found my way to the uninstall programs in Windows 8.1 and ran that
process. Again, it seemed to work. Using NVDA, I did not see WE in the
control panel. I ran the Quick install from the WE disk and let the PC
restart. Upon restart, there was no voice and hitting the start hotkeys, I
got a dialog saying the shortcut was not valid. I deleted the shortcut from
my desktop figuring it was from the old version. But now I cannot find WE.
If I go to Apps and type Windows, I see some other WE related items, but not
the basic Window Eyes. If I go to the Control panel under add/remove
programs, I see WE 9 listed, but if I try to uninstall it, I get some weird
error message about a dll. I managed to get a screen shot of that error
which I planned to send to AI tech support. I'm stuck. I cannot uninstall
the seemingly corrupted copy on my hard drive. I cannot find the program
and launch it with the keyboard shortcut or in the apps list. If I try to
run the install disk again, it tells me I have a current copy running. It
just dawned on me that I could try to launch WE from the run dialog, but I'm
not optimistic.

Anyone seen this and have any advice?

Robin
