Tim,
If you do not already have it, I would very much encourage you to pick up the
HarvestWindow script from Script Central. The report it produces is quite
detailed but is extremely valuable in helping gain an understanding of the
components of an application window.

Hi Aaron,

I didn't get any further than the last copy I sent to you - I've tried lots of
variations since, but none of them worked any better so they were abandoned.

Best wishes.

Tim,

It's possible. One shouldn't discount the already powerful functionality that
Window-Eye User windows provide in addition to scripting (along with
hyperactive windows, and so on). I still wonder, though, why your SpeakWindow
isn't working when you feed it an control ID. Can you send me your latest
version of the script so I can play?

Thanks,

Aaron
