Couldn't you execute the browse mode hotkey and capture the resulting speech
output and go from there?
It's a roundabout method, but could work perhaps.

The BrowseMode state isn't writable, so you can't programmatically set it.
At least not in its current implementation. You may be able to do this in
a future version after Browse Mode has been re-written.
