I was pointing out it's not just my script, it's someone else's
script as
well. that makes it no longer an issue which may be a coding
mistake; and
frankly, it's a lot easier to tell him how to use this very simple
script,
than to try and write one that's much simpler.

Chip. It would be better to create a smaller script to replicate the
issue.
Debugging that one may take longer. Remember keep it simple.

actually, you only need to download the focusControl script from script
central.
in vista, open a windows explorer window, tab to something other than
the
listview of files, press the hotkey for focusControl (I think it's
insert
f9), and choose the listview and click ok.
it should say "error!", and leave your focus where it is.
Jamal actually tries to use both window.control.focus, and if that
doesn't
work, he then tries window.focus, and in this case neither changes the
focus.
thanks.

Chip,
Can you provide some example code that demonstrates the problem you're
having?
I think I'm going to put that in my signature. <grin>

Hi all,
here's a problem I'm having, which I believe started with 7.1:
I can no longer cause a control window in a windows explorer window,
under vista anyway, to have the focus.
at first I thought it was my script, but I'm also having the same
results using Jamal's focusControl script (which speaks the message
"error!").
No error actually happens in the script, it's just that the focus does
not change to the control, regardless of the type.
This script used to work for me!!! :( but aside from whether it
worked, shouldn't I be able to cause a windows explorer window control
to have the focus?
anyone else see this?
thanks.
