It may not be needed often, but in this QT app I'm fighting with, the only way to find out what's highlighted in a tree or list control, and the only way to get the content of an edit control, is to copy it to the clipboard. Without an event for when the change takes effect, it's hard to know when it's safe to collect the text posted there.
