This can be done, although it gets complicated. Essentially, as you
suggested, you add all the controls to your XML, and then hide them all.
Then you position, size, and enable them accordingly when you need to
(much like you would in other languages that provide UI capabilities).
In fact, I do this is an app that you've played with recently that's not
yet publicly available.
