I found another such OCR package, and it will work with an image file.
Isn't there a Windows keystroke which will put an image to the clipboard?
 
If so, what format is it, and could you just write the stream of the
clipboard to an image file?

FYI. If one were to combine the resources below, along with the screen
capturing capabilities found at
http://www.developerfusion.com/code/4630/capture-a-screen-shot/ (with maybe
a pinch of ImageMagick processing), one could have a serious Window-Eyes OCR
solution on their hands.
