query regarding use of early binding

Hi:
I'm currently developing some code in c++ that uses the Window-Eyes 7.5 sdk.
Two queries:
I am using ActiveSettings to obtain the settings file. If I do this using 7.5 
or greater, then this will give me a Settings2 object. What will I get if I am 
using 7.0-7.2?
Secondly does anyone have any code that is version agnostic to obtain the 
active settings file.
Any help appreciated.
