Hi everyone,

A couple of things occur to me in response to this message.

One, the message to which I am replying is a joke, offered to get under people's skin and spark a debate, which, I can see, is beginning...so, watch out! :)

Second, having worked with PCs for nearly 30 years now, I certainly remember the old days when companies first tried to copy-protect software disks, making them impossible to make archival copies to protect oneself in case of disk damage. So, software came out to enable you to make a legitimate copy of software disks for archival purposes. Such software was, and, if you need such a tool, still is, legal. Ha ha! :)

Third, there is the scenario where you accidentally delete all but an encrypted copy of your masterpiece. What do you do? Get a decrypter! Shazam! :)

Finally, for me, the jury is still out as to whether copyright exists in the information age. The "hackers" of the fertile 1950s, and right up to the present day, of which Mr. Gates was one, envisioned a world where computer knowledge was free to all. The co-founders of Microsoft happened to be in the right place and at the riht time to capitalize on a budding technological phenomenon, and had the good fortune to copyright what had up to then been conceived in a community of like-minded talented mostly men. In short, can we get off the copyright pot, and live and let live. If people want to litigate, go ahead. If not, can we talk about something else?

Oh boy, I bet there's a bull's-eye on my back now, eh? Well, to that I say...peace and love. :)

My best, to all, and with the greatest respect,

Rod :)

Subject: GW Script Decryptor is here!

Ever wanted to decrypt a Window-Eyes script? Here's your chance!
This newly-released command-line utility allows the decryption of WSF files. Pass it the input and output file on the command line. For example:

decrypt script.wsf script.vbs

Will produce script.vbs from script.wsf.
If it fails to work, email me.
