Hello,
My personal experience of links which don't open pages, but, rather, are
intended as bookmarks to page locations is that they always fail to do what
they are supposed to. A clear example for me is Wiki articles, which are
loaded with these. Unless they open other pages, they do nothing useful.
Take care,
Rod :)

Subject: Re: creating links within a file
I have seen this problem and reported to gw.

I have been editing and posting books on my webpage for several years
based on the info from Cathyanne Murtha's "HTML Made Easy" instruction
file. Lately I have encountered a problem using the links internal to the
file. Window-Eyes 8.1, XP PRO SP3, and IE8 are the software programs I am
using. When I click on a chapter in the table of contents I am returned to
the top of the page. Incidentally, this also happens with Firefox. When I
go to my shell account, the Lynx browser works just fine. Also, shutting
off W-E allows the links to work normally for a sighted person. When I
load a large file I get a message from IE8 about incompatibility, but a
small file doesn't seem to indicate such.
Several people have suggested that I need to change my coding. This I
would be willing to do, but everything suggested thus far has not worked.
If anybody on the list is familiar with creating links within a file, I
would be interested in talking with you or exchanging emails. Should you
want to check this out, you can click on this link to see if you have the
same problem.

One further item: I have discussed this with GWMicro support and it may be
that there is a buffer problem with respect to W-E and the browsers.
Any suggestions and/or help will be appreciated.
