Hi Vic, Your comments are most helpful. Thanks. Yes, the more I use these web-like interfaces, the more I realize that we're always trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, as the old saying goes. Last night, I upgraded Windows Live Mail by uninstalling the old version and installing the current one. No difference for the problems I'm having. I also installed Firefox and Thunderbird, and so I'm good to go if I want to convert all my e-mail to Thunderbird. I'm just thinking about it all right now. I guess I'm just fighting the idea of spending money on MS Office, although I'm not exactly poor. Smile. It's more of an issue of principle over poverty. By the way, Vic, how did you like the upgrade to RodMasterVolumePresetRotator. You are the one to motivate me to write it up. Smile. Thanks for everything.
Take care, Rod From: Vic Beckley Sent: Monday, April 22, 2013 5:35 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: E-mail client accessibility Rod, I personally have used Outlook for many years and really like it a lot. I know a lot of people complain about it, but I couldn’t live without it. I use it both for e-mail and calendar and find it to be very accessible. The latest Outlook Enhance app is a tremendous help when reading your mail since it loads the messages into the browse mode buffer. It isn’t perfect but, again, I couldn’t live without it. For me, Outlook is pretty reliable. If you need a free e-mail client, I know many people use Thunderbird. I know Steve at GW uses it and he is blind. I think the accessibility of Thunderbird has gotten better lately. I have never used it so you guys who do correct me if I am wrong. These are just my thoughts. I hope they are helpful in some way. However, for literally months, I’ve had tracking issues in my message window and I’m about a step and a half away from getting some cash together to buy the MS Office Suite and so be able to use Outlook. I noticed you are using Outlook (from viewing your message details ), and I was wondering how you like it, and do you have any accessibility issues? Also, anyone reading this: what’s the best e-mail client from the point of view of accessibility? Bruce, I see you are using the reliable old Outlook Express, but, unfortunately, Windows 7 barred the use of it...too bad for me! :) Thanks, Chip, and everyone, Rod Smile From: Chip Orange Sent: Sunday, April 21, 2013 7:38 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Cuckoo Clock Sleep/Screen Saver mode Fix Bruce, Let me just warn you to pay attention when you upload an updated app; be sure to look at the follow-up screen after you click on the “update app” button; I am unable to update my app right now because the GW web site keeps saying my new .wepm file has a virus, and it won’t let me apply my new update. Unfortunately though, it seems to tell users though there’s been an update, even though the update didn’t get uploaded. I wasn’t paying close attention to the follow-up web page, so I hadn’t notice that GW was rejecting it. Hopefully GW will get to look at this soon. I guess I could do that now. I spent this afternoon getting more chapters for the VB 2010 and C++ from the on-line book...and now done with that. On line 795 is the fault and adding the mod 15 for a minute test should fix it. I have a flag test added and may post the fix tonight which will include a on/off flag for those who like it announcing when out of sleep mode as David had suggested. I actually can duplicate the issue when my tower goes into sleep mode from the screen saver event... Sincerely Bruce
