Hi All,

You can now find beta 3 of the Remind Me Where app at the link below:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11745142/Remind_Me_Where.wepm

The biggest change is that it now uses your IP address to determine your
current location when you aren't using a GPS receiver, so XP and Vista users
will have access to all of its features which require knowing where you
currently are.

Added a column showing number of events in Google Places search results
listview.

Fixed a problem related to having an old version of the GPS shared object
installed (before version 2.0.0).

Added app menu item for "Look Around" and reorganized app menus. "Look
Around" allows you to see all the near-by places without having to interact
with the search parameters dialog; it just brings them up.

Many other smaller improvements and fixes.

I haven't re-recorded the mp3 tutorial to match the new capabilities yet,
but when I do, I did get plenty of feedback on how to make it clearer and
more concise, and I'll do so.

The original mp3 tutorial is at:

There is some evidence that if you have a GPS receiver the included driver
doesn't work under 64-bit Windows; if you are a user with a GPS receiver and
it is working under 64-bit Windows, please do let me know.

Thanks.

Chip

p.s.

For those who missed the original announcement, this is an app which
interfaces with Google+ Local and Google Maps to provide you with
information as to places around a given location, or which meet any of a
wide variety of searching criteria, or gives you directions from one place
to another (driving, walking, or transit directions); it also allows you to
create your own database of points of interest, which will be used in future
for geographic-based reminders, and which can be used as the starting point
for searches, or as the starting or ending point for a set of directions.

I'm hoping for suggestions from users as to features which might make this
app more useful.
