Bruce,

You can always fall back on Narrator (Windows-U, Alt-M). It is extremely limited in its capabilities but should be sufficient to run the emergency removal.

Steve

Hi Again,
I just remembered, Windoweyes is not running at the moment for the
installation stopped when attempting to re-install after removing the other.
so, will have to get a sighted person in to do the recommendation. No voice,
nothing on the 7.5 CD when attempting to install, but the speakers do work and
have sound.

Hi Rod and Steve,

Thanks, I will do both, my friend who came over is a Linux lover and hates Windows
and says, "Throw them out!"

So back to the system restore and see what happens, along with the
download. My other tower that got hosed did have it's windows re-installed at a
price, $120 but he had installed it himself originally, I think got hosed twice.

     Thanks guys, Bruce

Note, also, that you can download the latest version of the Window-Eyes
emergency removal utility from
http://www.gwmicro.com/Support/Downloads/?fileNo=1114.

Hi Bruce,

So sorry to hear about your bad uninstall experience. Here's what I
think will help you.

Do a system restore back to the point you were before you tried
uninstalling it from Add/Remove.
Then, get your Window-Eyes 7.5 disk. On the opening screen which
comes up when AutoRun starts, you will find a Utilities submenu. On
that menu, you will find an option called Window-Eyes Emergency Remove
or Window-Eyes Removal. This is what I think should completely take
Window-Eyes off your System.

Hi!

I have discovered an interesting event. Windoweyes does not get
completely removed from the system when going to the Control panel.
It goes into the installation sequence, then asks are you are sure
but it does not get uninstalled completely.

when attempting to re-install under the Windoweyes 8 all the
settings are messed up and can not change them.

then when attempting to do it under 7.5 or 7.1 I can not even
get it to install at all. In other words the computer now does not
even talk.

I just had a sighted person over this morning and we used my
windows 8.0 disk and that was a big mistake when installing it on a
XP Pro machine. The settings were all messed up, even though all was
to be uninstalled.

So, what is the best way to do this? I suspect I have to load
Windows XP again...

          Sincerely
          Bruce
