Hi Rod,

I have bought several headsets and the like from a specialty business at
http://emicrophone.com
Which sells nothing but headsets and microphones.
It's a small business, and the owner participated in a mailing list I was
on. I wrote to him after I was over-whelmed with choice, and explained to
him I couldn't see and so couldn't easily navigate all the choices on the
site. I asked him to recommend something to me (giving him an explanation
of what I needed), and he did. My purchases were always fine.

FYI, a couple of years ago I was on a speech recognition mailing list. It
was commonly accepted, and recommended by MS, that you don't attempt speech
recognition over any wireless mikes; they all reduced the speech quality too
much, and it impacted the recognition. Just mentioning this in case you
don't care to have your Skype call quality go down any. There are
high-quality wireless headsets, but they're quite expensive (and one I
looked at required you to wear a belt unit which held the transmitter and
battery).

I'm not a fan of wireless headsets: they can interfere with your wifi; they
aren't as reliable; if they're Bluetooth that is its own pain at times, and
then they need to be kept charged. I've tried them at work, and I prefer a
long cord.

Hth,

Chip

Subject: Wireless microphone

Hi,

I have been looking into wireless headsets, that is, headphones with a
built-in microphone for Skype calling or gaming. However, since I
already have wireless headphones, all I really need is a wireless
microphone. Can anyone recommend one in the price range of headphones
with a built-in microphone?

Thanks,

Rod
