Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the heads up, but I believe this is the standard dialog which pops up when you're not a Window-Eyes owner, and you're using GWConnect as a freebie. It's a bug, or the GW Micro registration is acting up, or GW has decided to charge us for GWConnect, Window-Eyes user or anyone else. I think it's one or two, since we weren't warned about number three. smile

Cheers,

Rod

Hi Rod,

I usually check the header information if it was an email. If it is a
pop-up ignore it.
There are a lot of scam artists out there and they can get our email
addresses easily off the list.
So the best thing is to delete it. Do not open it. Any ads are usually
hackers after your system...

Subject: GWConnect runs in sponsored mode

Hi everyone,

I am a registered Window-Eyes user and, suddenly last night, I got an ad
telling me to upgrade to Window-Eyes, as though I wasn't a Window-Eyes
user. When I opened the About box on the Help menu, I appear to be
running in Sponsored mode. I know others on the list have experienced
something like this, and I was wondering how they fixed it, if they did.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit, have checked my Windows firewall with
advanced security incoming rules, and have allowed access to
gwconnect.exe and gwskypekit.exe on all networks and all protocols. I am
not running anything except Microsoft Security Essentials and the
built-in Windows 7 firewall.

I can't think of anything else which might be interfering with the
program, especially since this is a new experience with the program
after years of using it.

Thanks,

Rod
