festival is not a linux or vinux screen reader. when you pressd control
alt f1 you were then using the speakup screen reader.

the Orca screen reader. When the machine ran, Orca started talking

command prompt, I think another screen reader called Festival was
running, but that's probably the wrong name. The only somewhat
negative experince with this setup was that the keys that turned the
virtual machine on and off would stick and I'd have to press them more
than once. I've never tried to do something like run Windows in a
virtual machine.
