As far as I know, you can only save with 72 dpi, but if you sampled with
300 dpi and choose to show you the image in 1:1 (original size; right
click in the image, the last point) and then choose "save as" you should
get all the information that is in the picture. It is just bigger in
size (cm) when you use 72 dpi instead of 300 dpi but the information
(number of dots) should be the same. If you have problems with
resampling the image to 300 dpi try to use a fileformat that is working
without compressing the information e.g .png. Because .jpg compresses
the data what means you will loose some information of the picture.
